CC Lux Kapellen

The winning combination Cordeel Temse nv and Met Zicht op Zee Architecten from Antwerp rewarded us with the order for the retractable grandstand in the new multi functional cultural centre LUX in Kapellen. The cultural centre is part of the new centre master plan in the community of Kapellen, Belgium. The hall with retractable grandstand is completed in September 2019.

Retractable grandstands

The hall is equipped with a retractable grandstand on floor level and has an orchestra pit where a three row manual operated retractable grandstand is placed. In total the hall has a capacity of 406 theatre chairs. The floor level retractable grandstand has 16 seating rows. The first row is divided in several parts and can be individually removed to make inclusive place for wheel chairs. The other 15 rows are equipped with the system fully automatic set up ad fold down.

Rigid chain propulsion

The floor level grandstand has the rigid chain propulsion system. The chain system operates fully independent from the floor, and makes it mechanically possible to set up and fold down the chairs in a controlled manner. The total set up time will be within 15 minutes with only one operator.

Fully automatic seating rows

The chairs of the main grandstand are set up and folded down fully automatic. This mechanically operated movement is made possible due to the use of our rigid chain propulsion system. In the same movement of opening the grandstand the chairs are placed upright and locked. When retracting, the chairs are being unlocked and folded down in a controlled way.

Finishing and seating

The visible and invisible metal structure is powder coated in RAL-9005 black. The grandstands is finished with high quality contract carpet and side covering. The floors are upholstered with heavy use needle felt carpet and edges are finished with aluminium profiles. The two aisles have LED-fibre indicators to safe guard the audience when walking towards their chairs.

The chairs are engineered, produced and delivered by our partner Quinette Gallay from France, one of our chair partners. The chair has been made according the wishes of the client. For the upholstery the quality Xtreme by Camira Fabrics was chosen. The base and armrest were kept in overall black.
